COWLITZ COUNTY, WA – A head-on collision hospitalized seven people on Lewis River Road on Saturday night in what investigators suspect may have been a case of impaired driving.
KPTV reports that the accident occurred near Lewis River Road and Little Kalama River road close 8:30 p.m. when a car travelling on Lewis River tried to pass another car by entering the oncoming lane. The car making the illegal passing maneuver struck another car head-on.
Eight people in total were taken to the hospital, with one being a one-year-old taken without injury to the hospital as a precautionary measure. The severity of the injuries sustained has not been provided.
Impairment is being considered as a possible factor in the crash, though no charges have been announced at this time.
