MASON CO., WA – A man and a woman died last Saturday after a two-vehicle collision involving a police cruiser on a highway west of Seattle.

The incident happened in the evening on US-101 in northern Mason County.

Authorities say that the trooper involved in the crash was responding to a call with lights and sirens activated when his cruiser struck a Toyota Prius.

Two people in the Prius, identified as 72-year-old Charles Ferree and 49-year-old Deolia Blandford died from injuries sustained in the accident.

The police officer went to the hospital with minor injuries.
