Narrative
MAPLE VALLEY, WA – A wrong-way collision involving three vehicles killed a 22-year-old man on Wednesday night in southwest King County.
The incident happened around 8:55 a.m. on WA-169 near 218th Place Southeast, which is just north of Cedar River in Maple Valley.
Police say the victim was northbound when he attempted to pass other vehicles by entering the southbound side of the highway. His northbound vehicle collided head-on with two southbound vehicles.
The accident killed the northbound driver, whom authorities have identified as Steven Black.
Medics transported one other person, a 53-year-old woman to the hospital with unspecified injuries.
