Narrative
CHELAN CO., WA – A 70-year-old woman died, and at least two people sustained injuries Tuesday in a wrong-way collision in southeast Chelan County.
The fatal accident occurred shortly after 1:30 p.m. on State Highway 97 near mile marker 209, which is just south of Entiat and about 160 miles east of Seattle.
Police say that for unknown reasons, a southbound 2018 Subaru Forester entered the northbound side of the highway and collided head-on with a northbound 2025 Hyundai Santa Fe.
A passenger from the Hyundai, identified as Sylvia Harrison, succumbed to her injuries at the scene of the crash.
Medics transported the wrong-way driver, identified as 77-year-old Sharon Wilson, to an area hospital with injuries of unknown severity.
The driver of the Hyundai also went to the hospital with unknown injuries.
It’s unclear if Wilson will face charges in connection to the wreck.
