Man killed while trying to cross U.S. 101

November 9, 2022

MASON CO, WA- A driver was killed by an oncoming vehicle while trying to cross U.S. 101 on Friday, The Olympian Staff reports. A 28 year-old male, along with a female passenger and two children, was driving south on U.S. 101. Jon P. Martin, a 36 year-old was trying to cross that highway on Hurley Waldrip Rd. when he was hit and killed by the other driver. U.S.101 SB was closed from 2p.m. to 5p.m. Martin died at the scene. All the others were hospitalized at Providence St. Peter Hospital. The Washington State Patrol remains in charge of the investigation.

FERRY COUNTY, WA- The two drivers involved in a crash in Ferry County were both hospitalized on Wednesday, The Spokesman-Review reports. 36 year-old Shelly M. Ganon of Kettle Falls was responsible for the crash. Sometime around 11:30p.m., Ganon was driving in the wrong direction on Highway 395 in a 2010 Nissan Frontier. As she drove southbound on the northbound lanes, she crashed head-on into a 1997 Ford F-150 which was driving north. STEVENS CITY, WA- John A. Wilson of Colville was struck and killed while riding his motorcycle on Highway 395 on Oct 15, Spokesman-Review reports. The Washington State Patrol arrived on the scene soon after 2p.m two miles west of Kettle Falls. A Subaru Outback had gone into the second lane right after merging onto the highway.
