Narrative
COWLITZ CO., WA – A 62-year-old man died on Thursday in a wrong-way crash along the interstate in southern Cowlitz County.
The incident happened around 8:20 p.m. on the northbound side of I-5 near mile marker 25, which is just north of Woodland.
Police say that a southbound Mercedes entered the northbound side of the interstate and collided head-on with a northbound green Chevrolet Suburban.
The driver of the Mercedes died at the scene of the accident. Authorities identified him as Billy L. Wells Jr.
Medics transported the other driver to the hospital with undisclosed injuries.
